Community Work Placements (CWP) is a Department for Work and Pensions programme, aimed at those claimants whose primary barrier to work is a lack of work experience or motivation, and who may have spent a great deal of time away from a work environment. CWP aims to equip jobseekers with a valuable period of experience in a work-based environment, enabling them to develop the disciplines and skills associated with sustained employment, as well as to move them into employment.
The Island Partnership is working together with Seetec, delivering work-placements within projects that are of community value, giving clients valuable work-experience that is frequently helping them into sustainable employment.
Within this Department for Work and Pensions programme The Island Partnership has created a team called Projects, who are currently busy cleaning up the local environment, on Sheppey, and further afield. We are also busy helping other local community projects carry out vital work for the community.
These projects include AOCA Restoration, based in the old council offices in Trinity Road, Sheerness and Sheerness Dockyard Preservation Trust. Our teams are helping at St Mary’s Church in Chalk, St Mary’s in Walmer, Blean Church, St Botolph’s Church in Northfleet and at Folkestone Sprucer.
