In over two decades of its existence The Island Partnership has had many hundreds, if not thousands, of clients and learners. We hope that all have had a rewarding experience and achieved their varied objectives and goals. On this page we give you the words of some of these people, so it shall remain a work in progress.
“I first came to The Island Partnership in 2011 as a Work Programme client. I had a part time job working 4 hours a week as a Sales Assistant, had just left college and was struggling to find a secure job. I had attended interviews and been rejected which knocked my confidence.
When I attended The Island Partnership I was given support and confidence boosts. After attending a motivation course run by Paul West I was taken to one side and given information about a Business and Administration apprenticeship at The Island Partnership as I had previously finished a Business and Administration level 2 course at college.
I was very grateful at this time as this was the job path I wanted to take and my hard work in trying to achieve sustainable employment was being recognised. I attended the interview and was ecstatic when I received the call to say I had been successful. I started my Apprenticeship in September 2011.
I was given continuous support by all the team at The Island Partnership and began to realise that this wasn’t just a job, for many of the team members this was a second family which I was welcomed into from day one. The team all worked at 100% to help people into employment and to help people achieve the qualifications they desired.
I spent a year in my apprenticeship and within this year I learned so much and grew as a person thanks to The Island Partnership. I now have the privilege of helping other people change their lives by gaining sustainable employment like The Island Partnership helped change mine."
“I have been a customer of The Island Partnership many times. Several years previously I successfully achieved a computer qualification, through the support and tutoring that the staff gave me, completing the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course.
Now I am a client on the Work Programme and have been really pleased with the help, support and encouragement I have been given by the wonderful team. Through their support I have achieved new goals and have opened myself up to new career paths. I have been volunteering as an IT learning support assistant with The Island Partnership and helping out with IT in the Work Programme Job-Club, which has helped develop my people skills to a new level.
The Support of the staff and the volunteering opportunity that I have undertaken has given me more confidence in myself that I will carry into my next employment and beyond”.

“The support I have received at The Island Partnership has been excellent, with help from advisers and other staff, mentoring, CV building, IT sessions, job matching and one-to-one support when required. If I ever felt an issue needed to be resolved I felt I could go to my adviser and she would go out of her way to resolve this. They work as a team.
My adviser was available for support at all times, I could always text her and get a reply, so I never missed out on job opportunities. After support with my CV, help with interview skills and courses to boost my confidence I found work.
My first job wasn’t really the kind of work I was actually looking for, so I was able to remain in touch with the team at The Island Partnership and they found me my dream job, driving, which was wonderful, having been out of work a very long time".
“I have been with other providers, but having come to The Island Partnership I have actually learned some new jobsearch skills and aspects of CV creation that I wasn’t aware of and have been offered opportunities to refresh essential work-based skills by participating in relevant work-placement rather than being forced into pointless job-searching tasks that I was already doing on my own anyway.”
“Today has been a good experience for me, because I have found out more information on using the computer than I have before and had help to update and tweak my CV to improve my chances of employment”
“This place has helped me today with my CV and opened my mind more to volunteering. The people are polite, help you and treat you more like a person than just someone who is on benefits.”
“I have found the staff at The Island Partnership very kind and helpful and in no way judgemental. They have helped me re-word and re-format my CV along with any other issues I’ve needed help with as my computer skills are very basic, to say the least.”
“I’ve only today started my training and they have already helped me more than other courses I have been on, even though I spent much of my time helping others around me. All the staff are open and fun to be around.”
“It’s been a very good experience. The staff have been very helpful. They help me on the computer and with my CV.”
“Staff are friendly and polite and I have learnt the odd thing about Universal Jobsmatch. My views on the questionnaires is that they were easy, those which I already knew. So, no benefit for myself, but can see why it would help others.”
“I found the staff very helpful and polite, and I have been treated with respect.”
